After a physical OHL campaign in Windsor, the hard-hitting Kraken prospect prepares to bring his imposing board play and offensive grit to Coachella Valley’s professional ranks.
Drafted by the Kraken in round 2 of the NHL Entry Draft in 2024, Nathan Villeneuve started the 2025-26 season with the Sudbury Wolves (OHL) before being traded to the Windsor Spitfires. Standing at six feet tall and weighing in just under 200 pounds, Villeneuve looms much larger on the ice. The 20-year-old forward is known for his physical style of play: he hits hard and often, and is a formidable opponent battling along the boards.
In this past season, Villeneuve played in 51 games where he netted 21 goals and 42 assists in the regular season. He also served 73 penalty minutes. In post-season play, Villeneuve appeared in 13 games with 3 goals, 1 assist, and 34 penalty minutes.
In the 2024 season, Villeneuve made his way to Coachella Valley where he got a chance dip his toes into the AHL water. Despite the larger competition, he was able to make an impact. While the score sheet shows just two assists in 8 games played (including 3 post-season bouts), his off-puck presence was certainly felt.
It is possible that he will remain in the OHL for one final season: he technically has one more year of eligibility in junior hockey, it is more likely that he will join the Firebirds in the AHL full time for the 2026-27 season.
