ST. LOUIS -- Pavel Buchnevich continues to not only create terrific scoring opportunities but he continues to get them.

Blues player of the game vs. Kings: Pavel Buchnevich

When he missed tapping in what looked like a slam-dunk shorthanded goal in the first period against the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday, the forward had to be clenching his stick again with the number of scoring opportunities he's had.

But a two-goal, one-assist game on Friday, including the game-winner in overtime of a 4-3 win against the Seattle Kraken, had him feeling good about his game again.

Buchnevich followed Friday up with another two-point game with a goal and an assist, and it was his assist that was most impressive setting up Brayden Schenn with his second overtime game-winner in three games of a 4-3 win against the Kings at Enterprise Center.

He did so defensively by a quick read and intercept of a Phillip Danault sauce pass headed for the crease, composed himself enough to go around the net and find Schenn streaking up the lefthand side off the boards to spring the captain loose.

"Great read," Schenn said. "I think I saw [Trevor] Moore going back and I was late on it. He just got a stick in the way. He's a guy that breaks up a lot of plays, a guy that's good defensively and he was able to spring me.

"You just take off whenever you see a turnover in overtime. You just take off. Whether he gets you the puck or not, you just create space for him if he is going to carry it up. He's got great vision and he found me."

Buchnevich now has four goals and two assists in a three-game point streak and seems to have found his offense again. He was a plus-3 for the game in 21:11 and had a game-high five shots on goal on eight attempts and a takeaway.

"Great play to get back to break up that play and then to find him in the zone on the stretch play," Blues interim coach Drew Bannister said of the OT goal. "Great finish by 'Schenner' there to finish that game off no question."

Joel Hofer was also terrific in this game with 29 saves, and a number of clutch stops, while Jordan Kyrou (one goal, two assists) had himself a nice game, but Buchnevich was noticeable in all three zones in this game.
