Jordan Binnington's seal was finally cracked at the 2025 IIHF World Championship.
But the St. Louis Blues goalie remained unblemished with another victory in goal.
Binnington stopped 25 shots, and Canada downed Sweden 5-3 at Avivii Arena in Stockholm, Sweden on Tuesday to claim the top spot in Group A.
Binnington had played in two previous group stage games for Canada (6-0-1-0, 19 points) and pitched shutouts in wins against France (5-0) and Slovakia (7-0) but faced nearly as many shots in this game (28) to the previous two games (29).
Former Blue Ryan O'Reilly scored in Canada's three-goal first period to set the tone for the game. Binnington's Blues teammate, Brayden Schenn, had a shot on goal and played 10:58.
Binnington has a 1.00 goals-against average and .947 save percentage in stopping 54 of 57 shots.
With the win, Canada moved into Wednesday's quarterfinal and will face Denmark at 1:20 p.m. (CT) at Jyske Bank BOXEN in Herning, Denmark.
Other quarterfinal games include USA vs. Finland, Switzerland vs. Austria and Sweden vs. Czechia.
