The St. Louis Blues have had a busy summer, and it is not surprising when noting that they got back into the post-season this year. However, when looking at their current roster, it is fair to wonder if they could look to make one last addition before the 2025-26 season is here.
It is fair to argue that they could use another skilled winger in their middle six, especially after trading Zack Bolduc to the Montreal Canadiens earlier this off-season. With this, one player who could make sense for the Blues to target is Columbus Blue Jackets forward Yegor Chinakhov.
Chinakhov recently requested a trade from the Blue Jackets, so there is certainly a chance that he could find a new home this off-season. When noting that he is a 24-year-old winger who has put up some solid numbers early on in his career, he could be an interesting young player for the Blues to bring in for their third line and power play.
Chinakhov's best season so far was during the 2023-24 campaign, when he recorded career highs with 16 goals, 13 assists, and 29 points in 53 games. He followed that up by recording seven goals, eight assists, and 15 points in 30 games this past season.
Overall, with the Blues needing more depth scoring, Chinakhov would have the potential to good addition to their group. It will be interesting to see if they end up making a push for him from here, but the fit looks like it could be good on paper.
New Blues Forward Should Be Perfect Fit
Earlier this off-season, the St. Louis Blues signed forward Pius Suter to a two-year, $8.25 million contract. This was after the 29-year-old recorded new career highs with 25 goals, 21 assists, and 46 points in 81 games with the Vancouver Canucks during the 2024-25 season.
