ST. LOUIS -- The injuries are piling up for the St. Louis Blues, and it could be another significant one.

Blues defenseman Philip Broberg left Saturday's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs with a lower-body injury, THN has learned it's a right knee injury, in the second period.

Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner fell on Broberg's right leg at 7:02 of the second. Broberg skated off with little help but limped down the tunnel.

Blues coach Drew Bannister had no update after the game.

"He's been battling so hard for us and taking hits," Blues goalie Jordan Binnington said of Broberg. "He's a warrior, though, I know. He'll be back as best as he can, when he can. It was good to see guys step up and pick each other up. It was a tough play."

Broberg, who signed an offer sheet that was not matched by the Edmonton Oilers Aug. 20, arguably has been the Blues' best defenseman through the first 11 games; he had nine points (two goals, nine assists) and led the Blues with a plus-6.

"Obviously that's tough," Blues forward Jordan Kyrou said. "He's been unbelievable for us this year. It obviously sucks to see a guy go down like that, especially with all the injuries we have right now. Guys just got to step up and we've got to battle through it."

The Blues are already without Robert Thomas (fractured ankle), Nick Leddy (lower-body injury), Mathieu Joseph (lower body) and Kasperi Kapanen (upper body).

"He's a huge part of our d-corps and our team," Blues defenseman Colton Parayko said. "He plays a lot of minutes, plays (against) a lot of the top lines. Just great to have around the room and just a good person. Obviously tough to see. Wishing everything goes well with everything. Obviously we don't know, but hopefully we can come out (from) that one. We're thinking of him."
