The St. Louis Blues on Friday recalled defenseman Corey Schueneman from the Springfield Thunderbirds and reassigned defenseman Leo Loof, who was called up on Wednesday, back to Springfield.
The move comes on the heels of Pierre-Olivier Joseph departed Thursday's 4-3 overtime loss against the Buffalo Sabres in the second period with a lower-body injury, and Scott Perunovich (undisclosed) was injured in the third period but did not leave the bench.
With Schueneman recalled and Loof assigned back to the Thunderbirds, it means one of the two (likely Perunovich) is OK and will be available to play Saturday against the Boston Bruins.
Schueneman was signed by the Blues as a free agent July 2, 2024; he's played in 31 NHL games (all with the Montreal Canadiens) but not since the 2022-23 season (two goals, five assists).
This season, the 29-year-old has played in 13 games with the Thunderbirds and has five points (one goal, four assists).
