Forward will be in fold in St. Louis for next seven seasons; will average $8 million AAV when new contract kicks in
Pavel Buchnevich will be sticking around for a while.
The St. Louis Blues and the forward came to terms by signing a six-year, $48 million extension that will kick in with the 2025-26 season.
The contract details confirmed eliminates the 12-team modified no-trade clause for the upcoming season and makes it a full NTC for this season, plus the first four seasons of the new contract, a 20-team NTC in 2029-30 and 15-team NTC in 2030-31.
The average annual value breakdown is as follows: $8 million in 2025-26, $6 million in 2026-27, $10 million in 2027-28, $11 million in 2028-29, $8 million in 2029-30 and $5 million in 2030-31.
"Obviously really happy for him, deserved," Blues coach Drew Bannister said of Buchnevich. "He's been an outstanding player for us. He's going to be a big player for us moving forward. He's a corner piece to our success and what we're trying to do here. It's another part of our team moving forward that he's been a big part of the success that we've had or we're trying to have and we believe in him. He believes in us too and what we're trying to do here, so excited to have him back."
Buchnevich, 29, is going into the final year of a four-year, $23.2 million contract signed July 27, 2021 when the Blues acquired him from the New York Rangers for Sammy Blais and a second-round pick. He has 83 goals and 123 assists in 216 games over three seasons in St. Louis.
Buchnevich's average AAV comes in just under the $8.125 million of Robert Thomas and Jordan Kyrou.
