ST. LOUIS -- Robert Thomas has undergone a minor procedure on his leg and is expected to return following the Winter Olympic break, the St. Louis Blues announced on Saturday night.
The Blues' top center has played in 42 games for the Blues this season and leads the team with 33 points (11 goals, 22 assists).
Thomas was initially injured Dec. 31 against the Colorado Avalanche but did not miss a game. He has missed nine games, including Saturday against the Columbus Blue Jackets and last played on Jan. 10 against the Vegas Golden Knights.
“The consensus was that in the end if he gets this done, it would be the best thing long term instead of trying to manage it,” Blues coach Jim Montgomery said after Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets. “I think it was just becoming a nuisance to him. It’s no fun every time that you take a stride and you have pain.”
