Team, alumni association each donate $5,000 for medical expenses of Ryan, Ozzy Brodziak, each injured in accident

The St. Louis Blues and Blues Alumni are each making a $5,000 donation to help in support of medical care for the brother and nephew of former Blues forward Kyle Brodziak.

According to a GoFundMe page set up by Clay Aboughoche, Ryan Brodziak was on a walk through the Sherwood Park neighborhood with 11-month-old son Ozzy strapped to his chest and family puppy Gouda on a leash. In a sudden and tragic moment, an out-of-control vehicle sped onto the sidewalk, striking Ryan, Ozzy, and Gouda simultaneously.

Ryan and Ozzy were rushed to the emergency room and quickly transferred to the ICU with severe injuries. Gouda was also taken to the emergency vet for care..

Ryan suffered a significant spinal cord injury and multiple fractures in his spine. Ozzy sustained a skull fracture and a fractured left arm.

Kyle Broziak played three seasons with with the Blues from 2015-18 and played 917 regular-season games in the NHL with the Blues, Edmonton Oilers and Minnesota Wild.
