Lindstein makes showcase debut for Sweden; Burns, Canada debut in wild win against Finland

Theo Lindstein didn't waste any time making his mark for Sweden at the 2024 World Junior Summer Showcase.

The St. Louis Blues defenseman, selected with the 29th pick in the 2023 NHL Draft, scored a power-play goal and had two assists in a 7-5 win against USA at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Mich. on Friday.

Lindstein did not dress in either of Sweden's first two games of the showcase against USA White or USA Blue but forward Otto Stenberg (25th overall pick, 2023) has dressed in all three games.

Stenberg picked up two assists in the game.

Lindstein and Stenberg set up Jack Berglund (Philadelphia Flyers; second round, 2024) on Sweden's second goal at 5:31 of the opening period to make it 2-0, and Lindstein had an assist on Lucas Pettersson's goal at 14:40 of the first period to give Sweden a 3-0 lead.

Stenberg set up Lindstein's power-play goal at 15:29 of the second period for a 5-2 lead.

Blues  defensive prospects Colin Ralph (second round, 2024) and Lukas Fischer (second round, 2024) each played for USA and did not factor in the scoring. Ralph has played in each of four games this week. Defenseman Paul Fischer (fifth round, 2023) sat out Friday after playing three games.

    * Canada 8, Finland 6 -- Blues defensive prospect Quinton Burns (third round, 2023) also made his debut along with Canada at the showcase in a wild win against Finland.

Burns, who did not factor in the scoring for the Canadians, was playing on Canada's third pairing with Carter Sotheran (Flyers; fifth round, 2023).

The showcase concludes on Saturday when Finland and Sweden face off at noon (CT) followed by USA and Canada at 3 p.m. All games from the showcase are streamed live and on-demand on USAHockeyTV.com.
