St. Louisan nets goal, three assists for Americans at 2024 IIHF World Championship; Kessel scratched for fourth time in five games

The St. Louisan and Ottawa Senators forward scored and added three assists for USA in a 4-1 win against Poland at Ostrava Arena in Ostrava, Czechia.
Tkachuk's goal at 19:17 of the second period gave USA (3-0-1-1, 10 points) a 2-0 lead and turned out to be the game-winner in a game in which USA outshot Poland 57-22.
St. Louis Blues forward Kevin Hayes was without a point for the fifth straight game, but the center did have six shots on goal in 13:59.
Blues defenseman Matthew Kessel, who made his USA debut on Thursday in a 4-0 win against France, was a healthy scratch for the fourth time in five games.
USA, which moved into second place in Pool B behind Sweden, will next face Kazakhstan on Sunday at 9:20 a.m. (CT).
