ST. LOUIS -- St. Louis Blues defenseman Torey Krug will miss the entire 2024-25 season after having surgery to repair a pre-arthritic left ankle.

The Blues announced on July 16 that the 33-year-old would require 6-8 weeks of rehab following the diagnosis.

The decision to undergo surgery was reached following an effort to rehabilitate the injury through non-surgical interventions.

The injury is a cumulative result of a bone fracture suffered earlier in his career.

The injury could have been costly since Krug plays in a top four role on defense, but the team has made strides in fortifying the position, first signing veteran Ryan Suter to a one year contract and signing Philip Broberg from the Edmonton Oilers to a two-year, $9.16 million ($4.58 million AAV) offer sheet on Aug. 13 the Oilers did not match on Aug. 20.

Krug, who had 39 points (four goals, 35 assists in 77 games last season, has three years at a $6.5 million average annual Value remaining on his contract.

Krug will address the situation on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. (CT).
