St. Louis Blues prospect Matthew Mayich's health situation has been updated, as his lawyer states he has "zero chance of recovery."

Now, almost two weeks after St. Louis Blues prospect Matthew Mayich collapsed during a team workout with the NCAA’s Arizona State University, Mayich's lawyer provided an alarming update about his health.

According to a story by Robert Anglen of The Arizona Republic, Robert Carey, a lawyer representing Mayich, is accusing ASU of failing to properly investigate the events that led to Mayich collapsing during an intense off-season workout in the Tempe heat.

Carey states that Mayich fell into a coma on Aug. 20 and that he now has "zero chance of recovery," as well as noting that the university's investigation undermined the severity of the workouts.

"My investigation shows the storyline is completely false," Carey said to The Arizona Republic. "This case has shattered (Mayich’s) life. He deserves, and his family deserves, a proper investigation."

An earlier report from The Athletic claims Mayich and ASU teammates were undergoing "military-style workouts" run by Tim Zeisel, a non-ASU employee and former military service member, in temperatures just under 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Carey stated that he interviewed several players, who noted that Zeisel yelled at them as if he were a drill instructor and limited water intake to those who worked harder than others. The athletes were also informed not to complain throughout the 50-minute workout.

Per the report, ASU coach Greg Powers requested that Zeisel run the workout, and Zeisel's attorney stated that the workout only resembled a military exercise and noted that ASU coaches were present.
