Forward scores first goal with new team to give them 3-1 lead in second period, part of 4-3 win against Carolina Hurricanes

ST. LOUIS -- Dylan Holloway said he had no other options.

The St. Louis Blues forward, still in search of his first goal with his new team, turned in a flare for the dramatics to finally get it.

Holloway went between the legs against the Carolina Hurricanes in the second period at 13:31 that gave St. Louis a 3-1 lead, en route to a 4-3 win at Enterprise Center on Saturday.

Holloway tapped the puck in for good measure to make sure the puck was in after Philip Broberg, who extended his Blues record to six games with a point to begin his St. Louis career, poised with the puck, was able to slide it to Holloway going to the net. Holloway pulled it between the legs and got it over Pyotr Kochetkov, up in the air and as the puck hit the ice, Holloway tapped it in for good measure.

"I felt like that was the only thing I can do," Holloway said. "I was in tight so I figured why not try it. I've had some chances the last couple games and nice to see one go in.

"I just had to make sure. I just wanted that one bad, so I'm happy to see it go in."

Holloway and Broberg each signed offer sheets with the Blues on Aug. 13 which the Edmonton Oilers did not match a week later.

Right now, the contracts (two years, $9.16 million, $4.58 million average annual value for Broberg; two years, $4.58 million, $2.29 million AAV for Holloway) are looking nice for St. Louis.
