It's been a terrific start to the season for St. Louis Blues forward Jordan Kyrou, the kind the organization, coaching staff and fans have come to expect.
But would you believe that the six points (two goals, four assists) isn't even the best start to the 26-year-old's career?
Nope, that distinction goes to the seven points (two goals, five assists) Kyrou had in the first three games to start the 2021-22 season.
But what stands out is that Kyrou is also a plus-4 and playing responsibly on both sides of the puck; he's been playing predominantly with Pavel Buchnevich, Alexandre Texier and Zack Bolduc, with sprinkle shifts with Robert Thomas when starting with the puck on offensive zone draws.
Kyrou's two goals came in the opener, a 3-2 win against the Seattle Kraken. One was a power-play goal coming off the edge with speed that started the Blues' rally of three straight goals.
His breakaway goal that completed three goals in 1:55 turned out to be the game-winner.
Kyrou played 74 games in 2021-22 and finished with a career-high in assists (48), points (75) and plus-minus (plus-10).
The Blues would probably like to see him shoot the puck more (four shots on goal through three games) but that will come with increased production and confidence.
Kyrou is on pace for 164 points (55 goals, 109 assists), which would be Brett Hull-esque numbers. Can he keep it up, Blues fans would love to see anything close to that. He started that 2021-22 season with 39 points in his first 34 games. Will be hard to top, or even match.
