Colton Parayko and Ryan Suter have been a match made in heaven for the St. Louis Blues since Nick Leddy went down with a lower-body injury Oct. 15 against the Minnesota Wild.
Suter is no stranger to playing big minutes, even at his older age of 39.
Even in a 5-2 loss against the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday at Bell Centre, Suter had another solid game for the Blues.
He’s been paired with Parayko for five games now and had looked strong in each, and Saturday was no different.
Suter played 21:48, had an assist on Parayko’s goal and started the rush that led to another goal by Neighbours. He was a plus-2 in the game and made sound plays in 2:20 time on the penalty kill.
Suter had three shot attempts and blocked three more in another showing that perhaps he and Parayko should remain paired together when Leddy returns.
Suter has been a big-minute muncher and was one with the Dallas Stars the past three years playing with their top d-man Miro Heiskanen. Playing with Parayko only seems to make his game stronger, and Saturday was another solid outing.
In five games since going to the top with Parayko, Suter is averaging 23:43 per game and is a plus-6 on the season.
