Dylan Peterson made himself known when the St. Louis Blues held the 2024 Tom Kurvers Prospect Showcase, then again at the main camp.
A third-round pick in the 2020 NHL Draft, the Boston University product and forward made himself known to Blues management then and has continued solid production at the American Hockey League level.
Peterson scored four goals in two games Friday and Saturday for the Springfield Thunderbirds, first in a 6-5 loss against Hartford on Friday, then in a 4-2 win against Providence on Saturday.
After Sunday's 3-0 loss against the Bruins, Peterson has four goals in five games for the Thunderbirds, and they've come in a variety of ways, either at the net front ...
... or in transition with solid stick work and precision shot.
The goals were Peterson's first at the AHL level and he is now projected to score 58(!) in 72 games this season, which is hard to imagine, but nice to be on such a pace.
At 6-foot-4, 192 pounds, the Blues have to be pleased to see a player willing to commit to driving the net and showcasing a good mix of skating and playmaking ability, which he displayed throughout the prospect showcase, along with a hard-working mindset.
Springfield coach Steve Konowalchuk has used Peterson on the right wing in Springfield, but there's the multi-faceted ability to play center if needed. But regardless, it's been a rock solid start to his first full pro season after collecting an assist with Springfield in three regular-season games last season when he signed after reaching the Frozen Four title game in St. Paul, Minn. earlier this year.
Other prospects flourishing this past week include ...
* Tomas Mrsic -- In four games this week for Prince Albert of the Western Hockey League, Mrsic continued his hot scoring pace with three goals and three assists in four games despite the Raiders going 1-3.
Mrsic, a fourth-round pick in 2024, now has 11 points (six goals, five assists) in nine games for the Raiders. He is on pace for 81 points (44 goals, 37assists) in 66 games.
* Jakub Stancl -- It was also a solid week for the 2023 fourth-round pick.
In three games for Kelowna, Stancl had three assists, giving the forward 10 points (four goals, six assists) in nine games.
Stancl, who was also in St. Louis for main training camp as well as the 2024 prospect showcase, is a plus-3 on the season. He is on pace for 75 points (30 goals, 45 assists) in 67 games.
