The other day, the Tampa Bay Lightning claimed forward Curtis Douglas off of waivers from the Utah Mammoth. The move was to add size and grit to their lineup, which is exactly what happened in his first NHL shift.
Douglas dropped his gloves in his first NHL shift and not just against anyone. It was against one of the toughest players in the NHL Kurtis MacDermid and Douglas won.
This kid was passed on by a few teams, although Utah really liked him he had to be waived and unfortunately, they lost him. Now he is getting his chance at the NHL level and making a name for himself.
