The Lightning and Stars are playing the first of two matchups this season. Some odd scheduling from the NHL this week, as these two teams will face each other twice in three days. The Bolts are looking to pick up two points today after dropping their past three games.
The Stars have a home record of 5-4-1, so there's room for the Bolts to capitalize. Dallas has their share of young talent and seem to be picking up where they left off after making the conference finals last season.
As for the Lightning, although they don’t have the points to show for it, they have been playing some of their best hockey offensively, generating shots on net and getting some great chances. Unfortunately, the puck isn’t going in the net on a regular basis. That's an area they'll be focused on fine tuning.
Most of all, their biggest struggle so far this season has been that their opponents are hitting the back of the net every time there's a turnover. Today is a good and reasonable opportunity for them to turn their season around and grab two points. They're still in an 'ok' place in the standings, but this will help get them out of the small hole they've dug for themselves. Puck drop is an early 2PM EST.
