It has been a wild seven days for Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy. He played outdoors at Raymond James Stadium, and got in a fight at the same time. He also recorded a shutout against the Utah Mammoth and only allowed a single goal against the Winnipeg Jets. His strong week ultimately led to him being named the Second Star of the Week by the NHL.
Vasilevskiy had a 3-0 record over the last week, recording one shutout and tallying a 1.95 goals against average and a save percentage of .930. He's been a big part of the Lightning's success this season, and throughout his entire career for that matter.
This season, the 31-year-old netminder has played in 35 games for the Lightning. During that time, he's picked up a 25-7-3 record with a league-leading, among starters, .919 save percentage and 2.12 goals against average.
Throughout his career, Vasilevskiy has only won the Vezina Trophy once despite being a finalist five times. This season, it seems almost certain that he'll be a finalist for a sixth time and he's likely the front-runner to win his second career Vezina Trophy if things continue at the same rate for the remainder of the season.
