On Tuesday afternoon, the American Hockey League announced that Brandon Halverson of the Tampa Bay Lightning's affiliate team, the Syracuse Crunch, has won their Goaltender of the Month award for February.
Halverson has been a solid netminder for the Crunch the majority of the season, but his level of play reached a new level last month. The 29 year old went 6-0-0 and recorded two shutouts in the process. Over the course of February, Halverson recorded a goals against average of just 1.67 and a .934 save percentage. Had he not allowed four goals in his final start against the Laval Rocket, those numbers would be even more impressive.
Overall this season, Halverson has a record of 19-6-4, a goals against average of 2.25 and a .910 save percentage for the Crunch. He also appeared in a single game for the Lightning back in December, where he played for just six seconds.
Halverson is in the final year of a two-year contract with the Lightning and is set to be an unrestricted free agent this summer.
