Brayden Point will not play for Canada at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 due to a lower body injury.
The Lightning forward has been out since Jan. 12, when he exited early in a 5-1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers after scoring a power-play goal at 4:29 of the second period. On the play, Flyers defenseman Cam York fell awkwardly on Point’s right leg. He immediately took his gloves off and needed help off the ice.
Point did take part in the Lightning’s optional morning skate on Thursday, and while there was hope he would be able to make his Olympic debut, he was not at 100 percent. He will be replaced by Carolina Hurricanes forward Seth Jarvis.
