While Darren Raddysh and Ryan McDonagh weren't representing their country at the 2026 Olympic Games, they certainly had some skin in the game when Canada faced Team USA for the gold medal on Sunday morning.
At Lightning practice following the United States' first gold medal victory since 1980, Canadian defenseman Darren Raddysh took the ice wearing a Team USA jersey.
After practice, team reporter Benjamin Pierce revealed that the punishment was the result of a friendly bet with fellow defenseman Ryan McDonagh.
With Olympians representing quite a few different countries this year, it was clear that the Tampa Bay Lightning locker room would likely have a split opinion of the gold medal game. With that being said, it seems that for those not participating at least, Canada's loss resulted in just some friendly banter amongst teammates rather than any hurt feelings.
