Former Tampa Bay Lightning forward Adam Erne has signed a professional tryout (PTO) contract with the New York Rangers.
Erne, 29, is one of the many former Lightning players who do not have a contract for the 2024-25 campaign. However, after securing this PTO from the Rangers, he is now another step closer to changing that. He will now look to impress the Rangers at training camp and successfully get a deal for the season from here.
The Lightning selected Erne with the 33rd overall pick of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. In 114 games over three seasons as a Bolt, he had 13 goals, 27 points, and 267 hits. His best season with the Lightning came in 2018-19, where he had seven goals and 20 points in 65 games. His time with the Lightning ended after that campaign, as he was traded to the Detroit Red Wings during the 2019 NHL Offseason.
Erne had a quiet year offensively this past season with the Edmonton Oilers, recording one goal and two points in 24 games. He also played 36 AHL games with the Bakersfield Condors, posting six goals and 12 points.
