During this past off-season, the Tampa Bay Lightning traded forward Tanner Jeannot to the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for a 2025 second-round pick and a 2024 fourth-round pick. The move was understandable, as the Lightning needed more cap space, and Jeannot struggled to find his fit with Tampa Bay.
Following the trade, Jeannot appeared in 67 games this season with the Kings, where he had seven goals, 13 points, 89 penalty minutes, and 211 hits. This was after the gritty forward had seven goals, 14 points, 211 hits, and a minus-10 rating in 55 games with the Lightning this past campaign.
Jeannot's last appearance with the Kings was on March 25 against the New York Rangers, and he has been out with an injury since. Unfortunately for the Estevan, Saskatchewan native, this injury is now going to sideline him for at least the beginning of the Kings' playoff run.
According to Kings reporter Zach Dooley, Jeannot is still considered week-to-week and will miss the start of Los Angeles' first-round series against the Edmonton Oilers, but could get back in the lineup at some point during it.
The Kings will certainly be hoping that Jeannot is healthy enough to return before their series against the Oilers is over. His hard-nosed style of play makes him a good player to have during the post-season, and having his grit in the lineup would make things more challenging for the Oilers to go up against.
Jeannot appeared in 75 games over two seasons with the Lightning, where he had eight goals, 10 assists, 18 points, 97 penalty minutes, 288 hits, and a minus-16 rating.
