The Flyers had a late third period push, putting them up by four goals.
The Lightning had two periods of solid play, but that quickly turned when the Flyers scored three goals in seven minutes. A few empty net goals late in the game led to a 6-2 final score.
Nick Paul and Steven Stamkos had one goal each for the Lightning, bringing the team total to two. Brandon Hagel and Nikita Kucherov continued their point streaks with assists. Hagel now has points in 14 straight games, matching Steven Stamkos (14 GP in 2022-23) for the second-longest run in Tampa Bay Lightning history.
Overall the Lightning played well in the first period, but a transition goal by the Flyers put them on the board first. Bobby Brink opened the scoring 2:22 into the first period, firing a shot off of Andrei Vasilevskiy's blocker side.
Things started to get interesting when power went out for a portion of the building, causing a nine-minute delay. The game picked back up without a clock, sound or scoreboard.. old school style hockey.
"During the first period we had a transformer on the event level go," said Phil Laws, President of the Wells Fargo Center. "It blew up. Burnt up. I don't know why. I don't know if it came from external stuff or inside the building."
Heading into Tuesday night’s game, the Lightning had won eight straight games in Philadelphia.
“We’ve had a lot of success in this building, so at some point something’s going to give,” said Lightning coach Jon Cooper. “They got that early one in the third period and it went their way.”
The Flyers had goals from three defensemen, Travis Sanheim, Sean Walker, and an empty-netter from Cam York in the third period. Tyson Foerster also grabbed a goal after recently returning to the lineup on Sunday.
The Lightning head back to Tampa to face Buffalo on Thursday night.
