Will this former Lightning forward find a new home?

Although it is almost September, there are still a good amount of free agents left in the NHL.

Among the top free agent centers left is former Tampa Bay Lightning forward Luke Glendening.

Glendening still being a free agent comes after he spent the 2025-26 season split between the New Jersey Devils and Philadelphia Flyers. In 70 games this past campaign, the former Lightning forward recorded two goals, seven assists, nine points, and 97 hits.

Glendening picked up his play after being claimed off waivers by the Flyers, though, as he recorded two goals and five points in 18 games. This was after he had zero goals and four assists in 52 games for New Jersey.

With Glendening being a solid fourth-line center who wins faceoffs, plays a strong defensive game, and has a lot of NHL experience, it is possible that he could land at least a professional tryout (PTO) agreement from a team before training camp starts.

In 158 games over two seasons with the Lightning from 2023-24 to 2024-25, Glendening posted 14 goals, four assists, 18 points, 111 blocks, 226 hits, and a 56.5 faceoff winning percentage.
