This former Lightning forward has landed a PTO with the Rangers.
The New York Rangers have announced that they have signed former Tampa Bay Lightning forward Luke Glendening to a professional tryout (PTO) agreement.
Glendening landing this PTO with the Rangers comes after he signed a PTO with the Lightning ahead of this year's training camp. The 37-year-old did not earn a contract for the season from his PTO with the Lightning but will be hoping for a different result with the Rangers.
With Joe Veleno being out for multiple months due to injury, it makes sense that New York is giving Glendening a look on a PTO. If he impresses during it and earns a contract for the season, he would give New York another option to work with for their fourth-line center spot and penalty kill.
Glendening spent this past season split between the New Jersey Devils and Philadelphia Flyers, where he has posted two goals, nine points, 97 hits, and a 52.9 faceoff winning percentage.
Glendening played two seasons with the Lightning from 2023-24 to 2024-25. In 158 games for Tampa Bay over that span, he posted 14 goals, 18 points, 226 hits, and a 56.5 faceoff winning percentage.
