For the first time in his career, Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman JJ Moser has been named an alternate captain for the senior Swiss National Team.
Moser had previously served in a leadership role for the U20 Swiss National Team during the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship, but had never previously received the honor with the senior team. The Lightning defenseman has suited up for the Swiss National Team a total of 43 times throughout his career, scoring four goals and 16 points during that stretch.
As a member of Team Switzerland at the 2025 IIHF World Championship, Moser won a silver medal which was the first time in his career that he earned a medal at an international competition.
For the Lightning, Moser had one of the best seasons of his career during the 2025-26 campaign. He scored seven goals and 29 points in 79 games for the Bolts, while also recording a career high 69 penalty minutes and ending the season as a +41.
Switzerland started their portion of the tournament on Friday, as they played against the United States. Switzerland picked up the win, with Moser picking up an assist in the process. He had the secondary assist on Pius Suter's goal, just two minutes into the game.
