Jonas Johansson, 28, is coming off a strong AHL season in Colorado’s organization. He signed to a two-year deal with Tampa Bay this summer and had just 35 NHL games on his resume when he joined the team.
Johansson has only had two opportunities to make an impact with the Lightning organization so far. Even with the added pressure of an injured Andrei Vasilevskiy, he is focused on keeping his mindset the same.
"I mean, I feel bad for him. It's never easy to get through an injury. You don't want to have to deal with that. But I try to just focus on me and show up every day and be as good as I can..and play as good as I can when I get to play. So that's just my mindset."
Johansson will get one more opportunity to make his case for an Opening Night roster spot in tonight's last preseason game vs the Florida Panthers.
