The Lightning have finally added to their blue line.
For several weeks, the Tampa Bay Lightning have been connected to multiple defensemen. They struck out on many of them, but now, they are finally bringing one in.
The Lightning have acquired defenseman Matt Dumba and a 2025 seventh-round pick from the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for a 2027 fifth-round pick.
Dumba will be a solid addition to the Lightning's right side and will likely play on their second pairing and penalty kill. This is because he is a veteran two-way defenseman who plays a steady game and also provides plenty of physicality. As a result, he is a player who is built for a playoff club.
In 58 games this season, Dumba has four goals, 10 points, 84 blocks, and 150 hits. It will be interesting to see how well he builds upon these stats with the Lightning from here.
