Sustainable hydration meets high-stakes hockey as Open Water secures exclusive arena rights, debuts the aluminum-inspired "CanZam," and claims a spot on the team’s practice jerseys.
The Tampa Bay Lightning are adding a new look to their practice jerseys and their Fan Zamboni this season.
On Tuesday, the Lightning announced a new partnership with Open Water, becoming the team’s Official Still & Sparkling Water Partner starting with the 2026-27 NHL season. The partnership will bring Open Water’s products to Benchmark International Arena, while also introducing a new version of the arena’s Fan Zamboni.
The “CanZam,” a reimagining of the FanZam, will feature a design inspired by Open Water’s aluminum cans and make its debut as part of the partnership.
Open Water, a sustainable water company focused on reducing the use of single-use plastic bottles, will also have category exclusivity as the Lightning’s still and sparkling water partner. Its products will be available to fans during Lightning games as well as concerts and other events held at the arena.
The partnership extends beyond the arena. Open Water will have chest patch placement on the Lightning’s practice jerseys and will work with the team on digital and social media activations throughout the season.
One of those activations will be “Recycled Plays,” a social series that will use Lightning content to highlight recycling and the use of aluminum as an alternative to single-use plastic.
“Sports are one of the places where culture and everyday behavior actually meet,” said Nicole Doucet, co-founder and CEO of Open Water.
The partnership will roll out throughout the 2026-27 season, with Open Water featured across the Lightning’s home-game environment and select team and digital programming.
