Conor Sheary will head back to Syracuse after logging 11:18 minutes of ice time Thursday night against Ottawa.

The Tampa Bay Lightning announced on Friday that forward Conor Sheary would be re-assigned back to the Syracuse Crunch. Sheary was originally signed by the Lightning as a free agent on July 1, 2023 and played a full season with the team. He was called up on Saturday morning after it was announced that Lightning forward Anthony Cirelli would be out with an undisclosed injury.

Sheary has skated in 31 games with the Crunch this season, recording nine goals and 24 points with a team-leading 84 shots on goal. He ranks second among all Syracuse skaters for assists, points and power-play points (9) while his nine goals and three power-play tallies are tied for second.

“It's hard at times. I spent so much time up here in the NHL, getting sent down there is difficult for me, but I just took it in stride," Sheary said of his time in the AHL. "I get to go play a bigger role, bigger minutes, be in more of a leadership role. It's good for me and my career I think if I can use that to my advantage and come back up here and play a little bit better. You get reminded of things that maybe you weren't doing so well. It's a hard league so I think it can only be good for me to come back up here after that."

Sheary appeared in 593 career NHL contests, registering 124 goals and 267 points with 21 game-winners and 33 power-play points. He's played in 62 career games with the Lightning.
