The Lightning should consider taking a flier on this former Oilers forward with a PTO.
When looking at the Tampa Bay Lightning's current roster, it is fair to argue that they have spots to fight for in their bottom six. Because of this, they should be open to the idea of inviting a player to their training camp on a professional tryout (PTO) agreement.
One remaining free agent who could make sense for the Lightning to take a look at on a PTO is veteran forward Adam Henrique.
Henrique is coming off a down year with the Edmonton Oilers, as he posted three goals and 15 points in 65 games. Yet, when noting that he had 12 goals and 27 points in 81 games for the Oilers just back in 2024-25, it is fair to wonder if he could get his offense back up a bit if given the chance to play again next season.
Furthermore, just back in 2023-24, Henrique recorded 24 goals and 51 points in 82 games split between the Anaheim Ducks and Oilers. That is not too long ago, so it could make sense for the Bolts to give the veteran forward a chance on a PTO.
If Henrique impressed on a PTO and landed a contract for the season with the Lightning, he would have the potential to be a solid addition to their bottom six. He would also give them another well-respected veteran who could help mentor their younger players. With that, there would be no harm in them taking a look at the 16-year NHL veteran on a PTO.
