The Tampa Bay Lightning have placed defenseman Zach Bogosian and forward Gabriel Fortier on waivers as they finalize their final roster prior to Opening Night on Tuesday. These moves will set up the next few roster shifts that need to happen by Monday at 5PM EST.
Andrei Vasilevskiy will need to be on the Opening Night roster in order for the Lightning to reap the benefits of Long Term Injury Reserve. On Wednesday they can place him on LTIR and then call up Bogosian if that’s still where Jon Cooper sees him. Bogosian’s time on the ice has decreased with the additions of Nick Perbix and Darren Raddysh. He's averaged just 47 games over the first two seasons on his current three-year deal, so this could go either way.
Once Vasilevskiy is on LTIR, they will have the cap room to keep an extra defenseman and two extra forwards while keeping their roster at 23 players.
Stay tuned for more updates as they come in.
