The Tampa Bay Lightning announced on Monday morning that they had recalled forward Curtis Douglas from the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League.
Douglas was sent to Syracuse on a conditioning stint two weeks ago, and played in six games during his time in the AHL. During that stint, he failed to record a point and registered six shots on goal.
In 27 NHL games this season, the six-foot-nine Douglas has recorded two points, both of which are assists, and tallied 75 penalty minutes. While he's not a big offensive contributor, his size can certainly make an impact.
Douglas has spent the majority of the season on the fourth line, playing alongside players like Scott Sabourin, Jack Finley, and Nick Paul. If Gage Goncalves is unable to play on Monday against the Utah Mammoth, it's likely that Douglas will draw into the lineup. If not, head coach Jon Cooper may leave Jakob Pelletier on the fourth line for the time being.
Douglas, a native of Oakville, Ontario, was originally a fourth-round pick in 2018 by the Dallas Stars. He joined the Lightning organization after he was placed on waivers by the Utah Mammoth and subsequently claimed by Tampa Bay on October 6, 2025.
