With the 134th overall selection in the 2026 NHL Draft, the Tampa Bay Lightning drafted center Morgan Anderberg from the Vaxjo Lakers of the Swedish Hockey League.

Last season with the Lakers, Anderberg scored two goals and a single assist in 39 SHL games. Heading into the draft, experts were split on his ranking, with Tony Ferrari of The Hockey News ranking him 55th, while McKeen's Hockey had him as low as 270th.

While Anderberg was drafted as a center, he has also played the wing over in Sweden.

"It’s quite impressive that Anderberg can play as a third-line center in the SHL semifinals at 18 years old," Elite Prospects scout Jimmy Hamrin wrote in April. "He can do so due his impressive speed and defensive awareness. He reads the game at a high pace."

In December, Anderberg signed a contract extension with the Lakers which will keep him in Sweden until at least the 2027-28 season, but it's possible he could stay even longer depending on his plans.

The Lightning still have quite a bit more work to do, as they still have a few more picks remaining in the second day of the 2026 NHL Draft.
