Groshev was called up to the Lightning's roster ahead of their Dec. 3 matchup against the New York Islanders. However, the 6-foot-2 blueliner did not play in the Bolts' contest against the Islanders. Now, with this news, he will be heading back to Syracuse, where he will be looking to make an impact.
Groshev has appeared in 19 games so far this season with the Crunch, where he has recorded zero goals, seven assists, eight penalty minutes, and a plus-8 rating. This comes after he posted seven goals, seven assists, 14 points, and 21 penalty minutes in 56 games this past season with the Crunch.
Groshev has yet to make his NHL debut for the Lightning, but that certainly has the potential to change before the season is over. While he did not play during this latest call-up for the Lightning, he appears to be next in line for a spot on Tampa Bay's roster.
Groshev was selected by the Lightning with the 85th overall pick of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.
