The Lightning should strongly consider signing this free agent.
The Tampa Bay Lightning have certainly had a busy off-season.
The Bolts have added multiple new players to their roster, including John Carlson, Dennis Hildeby, Ilya Mikheyev, and Jeffrey Viel. However, when looking at their current group, it is fair to argue that they should not be done just yet.
The Lightning could use another skilled winger to improve their forward group. Due to this, the Lightning should strongly consider signing veteran forward Vladimir Tarasenko in free agency.
If the Lightning signed Tarasenko, he could slot perfectly on their second line right wing spot, with Brandon Hagel and Anthony Cirelli as his linemates. He would give this line a veteran sniper to work with, which could help Tampa Bay nicely.
Yet, even if Tarasenko played on the Lightning's third line, he would still have the potential to give them some much-needed secondary scoring. Keep in mind, the two-time All-Star posted 23 goals and 47 points in 75 games with the Minnesota Wild just last season.
On a short-term deal, it could make sense for the Lightning to bring in a two-time Stanley Cup champion like Tarasenko. It will be interesting to see if they make a push for him from here, but the fit looks good on paper.
