The Tampa Bay Lightning have had a solid start to the season, as their 14-10-2 record demonstrates. However, when looking at their group, it is fair to argue that they could benefit from adding to their forward depth.
On Wednesday (Dec. 11), the Toronto Maple Leafs placed forward Alex Nylander on waivers. With the Lightning needing some help on the right wing, he could be an interesting low-risk player for them to take a chance on.
Nylander, 26, has played in five games this season with Toronto, where he has zero points. However, he showed last season after being dealt to the Columbus Blue Jackets that he has the potential to be a solid scorer. In 23 games with Columbus in 2023-24, he had 11 goals to go along with 15 points.

If the Lightning claimed Nylander from the Maple Leafs, he would give them another potential skilled forward to try out in their middle six and on their power play. He also carries a very affordable $775,000 cap hit, which adds to his appeal.
