The Lightning should take a chance on this forward with a PTO.
The Tampa Bay Lightning should be open to inviting at least one free agent to training camp on a professional tryout (PTO) agreement.
When looking at the remaining free agents, one player who could be interesting for the Lightning to take a chance on with a PTO is forward Robby Fabbri.
Fabbri played in 21 games last season split between the St. Louis Blues and Minnesota Wild, where he recorded two goals and five points. This was after he had eight goals and 16 points in 44 games for the Anaheim Ducks in 2024-25.
While Fabbri has not had the strongest of seasons in recent years, his resume makes him an interesting potential PTO candidate for the Bolts to consider.
Just back during the 2023-24 season with the Detroit Red Wings, Fabbri posted 18 goals and 32 points in 68 games. The 2014 first-round pick has also recorded at least 15 goals and 30 points four times in his career, so he has shown that he can provide solid secondary offensive production in the past. This is especially so when noting that he has only played over 60 games three times in his NHL career.
Overall, on a PTO, there would be no harm in the Lightning taking a look at what Fabbri could do. If he earned a contract for the season, he would have the potential to be a nice part of Tampa Bay's forward depth if he bounced back.
