With Jonas Johansson out day-to-day, Brandon Halverson may get the opportunity to stick around in Tampa for a bit.

The Tampa Bay Lightning announced on Monday that they signed goaltender Brandon Halverson to a two-year, two way NHL contract.

Halverson is tied for first for shutouts, tied for second for goals-against average and sixth overall for save percentage in the AHL. He's played 26 games in Syracuse this season, posting a 12-7-7 record with a .918 save percentage. He participated after arriving in Tampa on Monday morning.

Halverson was originally drafted by the New York Rangers in the second round of the 2014 NHL Draft and was signed by the Crunch as a free agent on November 28, 2023. He's appeared in one NHL contest, making his debut with the Rangers February 17, 2018 at Ottawa.

The Crunch are off until Friday this week, and with Jonas Johansson out day-to-day, Halverson may get the opportunity to stick around in Tampa for a bit. Halverson would have to go through waivers to be re-assigned to Syracuse.
