The Tampa Bay Lightning have made a move, signing Cooper Flinton to a two-year, entry-level contract that will start during the 2025-26 season. In addition, the Lightning announced that Flinton will be with the Syracuse Crunch for the remainder of this season on an amateur tryout.
Flinton, 21, just completed his third NCAA season with Dartmouth College. In 32 games with the school this campaign, he had 11 goals and set a new collegiate career-high with 13 assists. This was after he had 15 goals and 25 points in 30 games with Dartmouth this past season.
The Lightning selected Flinton with the 211th overall pick of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. In 89 games with Dartmouth over three seasons, the 6-foot-2 winger posted 32 goals and 64 points.
Flinton will now look to impress with the Crunch after landing his entry-level contract. When looking at his collegiate numbers, there is solid promise there. It will be intriguing to see how much of an impact he makes with the Bolts later down the road.
