The Tampa Bay Lightning have made a major move, as they have signed forward Yanni Gourde to a six-year, $13.98 million contract. Starting next season, he will have an average annual value of $2.33 million.
Gourde had expressed interest in re-signing with the Lightning instead of hitting the free-agent market on July 1. Now, he has gotten his wish and will remain a Bolt for a long time. The Lightning also got him to stick around at a very reasonable price, which certainly is a major plus.
Gourde, 33, was brought back by the Lightning from the Seattle Kraken before the 2025 NHL trade deadline. In 21 games with the Lightning following the trade, he posted one goal, 14 points, and 50 hits.
Gourde has appeared in 331 career games over seven seasons and two stints with the Lightning, posting 81 goals, 201 points, and 332 hits.
