As we get closer to the start of free agency, Anthony Duclair has still not been re-signed by the Tampa Bay Lightning. If this remains the case on July 1, the skilled winger will hit the free-agent market and be a very hot commodity.

Teams looking for more scoring in their top six will certainly look to sign Duclair if he becomes a free agent. One specific club that should be watched is the New York Rangers.

Before the Lightning acquired Duclair, the Rangers were reportedly one of the several other clubs that looked to add him from the San Jose Sharks. Although they missed out on him, they could circle back on him this summer.

It is no secret that the Rangers still could use another top-six winger in their lineup. They also just freed up $3.64 million with Barclay Goodrow being claimed off waivers, so they have some cap space to work with to land a notable target like Duclair.

Duclair spent his first season in the NHL with the Rangers but was dealt to the Arizona Coyotes as a part of the package to land Keith Yandle. Now, almost decade later, the Rangers are in a position to bring back Duclair to strengthen their forward group.

Due to his ability to play both wings, Duclair would work virtually anywhere in the Rangers’ top six if signed. In addition, he would give them another key forward for their power play.
