The NHL has announced that Tampa Bay Lightning superstar Nikita Kucherov is one of three finalists for the Ted Lindsay Award. Kucherov will be going up against Colorado Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon and Toronto Maple Leafs center Auston Matthews for the award.

The Ted Lindsay Award is given to the NHL's most outstanding player, as voted by the NHLPA.

Kucherov, 30, was nothing short of sensational for the Lightning this season, and the truth is in his stats. In 81 games, he had 44 goals and led the NHL in points with 144. He also made history this campaign, becoming the first winger in the NHL to hit 100 assists in a single season.

Kucherov was the primary reason for the Lightning's success this season. His offensive dominance carried the Lightning to the playoffs, as he had 54 more points than Brayden Point, Tampa Bay's second-leading scorer.

It was a monster year for Kucherov. He already secured his second career Art Ross Trophy for leading the NHL in points and is in the running for the Hart Memorial Trophy as the NHL's most valuable player. Now, he is also officially a Ted Lindsay finalist, which is simply incredible.
