Lightning Young Forward Has Big Moment In Win Over Capitals

The Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Washington Capitals by a 3-1 final score on Saturday night.

The Lightning needed this win, as they lost to the New York Rangers 5-1 in their season opener earlier in the week. Now, they got things back on track in a nice way against the Capitals with this victory.

Conor Geekie was one of the main reasons for the Lightning's victory over Washington. This is because the young forward had a clutch moment for the Bolts in the contest.

At the 16:30 mark of the second period, Geekie scored a goal with a great snap shot that gave the Lightning a 2-0 lead. This ended up being the Lightning's game-winning goal, so there is no question that this was a big moment for the 22-year-old forward.

This is a very important season for Geekie. The 2022 first-round pick is looking to break out and prove to the Lightning that he is ready to be a full-time NHL player. Scoring a goal like this is undoubtedly a good start, and it will be interesting to see what he can do for an encore from here.
