Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy, Dallas Stars center Roope Hintz and Montreal Canadiens center Nick Suzuki have all been named the NHL’s “Three Stars” for the week ending March 2.
Vasilevskiy stopped 71 of the 73 shots, went 3-0-0 with a 0.67 goals-against average, had a .973 save % and added one shutout against the Calgary Flames. The Lightning start the new week off on an 8-game win streak, holding down the third place spot in the Atlantic Division.
Vasilevskiy is currently second place in the NHL with 29 wins through 47 total appearances this season (29-15-3).
“Everybody’s talking, ‘How good is Vasy?’ But for us, he’s the best goalie in the world, and he’s bailing us out at the right time always,” said defenseman Erik Cernak. “And we’re happy we have him in our net. I think this season, he’s been unreal and kind of helping us every time he can.”
