You truly never know what's going to happen in the NHL. This afternoon, the Lightning recalled forward Alex Barre-Boulet from Syracuse. Later it was disclosed that Tyler Motte was also placed on injured reserve, according to Erik Erlendsson.
Motte missed practice on Wednesday and was originally listed as day-to-day after inuring his hand against Nashville Tuesday night. Jon Cooper was hopeful they'd get good news on Wednesday but that doesn't appear to be the case. Being that he’s on injured reserve, Motte is expected to be unavailable for a minimum of seven days.
Barre-Boulet, who looks to be the one filling in for Motte, played in one game for the Lightning during the 2022-23 season vs the St. Louis Blues.
The 26-year-old forward joined the organization in 2018. He posted career highs for assists (60) and points (84) in 69 games with the Crunch last season and was selected as an AHL First-Team All-Star at the conclusion of the season.
