When the puck drops against the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday night, Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov has the opportunity to tie a personal record.
During the 2023-24 season, Kucherov registered a career-high 13-game point streak, which is also tied for the fourth-longest point streak in franchise history. The 32-year-old winger will enter tonight's game with a 12-game point streak, which is already tied for the second longest of his career, as he previously recorded 12-game point streaks during the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons.
Over the last 12 games, the back-to-back Art Ross Trophy winner has scored eight goals and tallied 20 assists for a total of 28 points.
Throughout his career, Kucherov has played in a total of 40 games against the Sabres and based on his history against them, it seems like there's a good chance that he's able to register a point. Throughout his career, he has scored 20 goals against Buffalo while picking up a total of 52 points. He's also recorded points in his last six outings against the Sabres.
With all of that being said, this is a more competitive Sabres team than we've seen in over a decade, so it certainly won't be an easy feat for him to keep the streak alive.
